Taking The First Step

"Nobody wants to work, we just want the money. People wouldn't work if they didn't have to". It's a phrase I hear so often and its true! Be honest, if you had enough money to travel the world and learn all about new cultures and stay in expensive hotels, would you really want to work? It'd be a dream come true! But for now, that's all it is. A dream. A goal to work towards.

Until then, I'm stuck working in an average job with people who are actually really nice, thankfully. The people you work with always make the job so much better, which is extremely useful when you make your living making coffees, albeit not very well, for rude customers. Can you guess where I work yet? In all seriousness, there are some lovely customers that come into work regularly and make conversation and make you feel a lot better. Even customers who don't come in often but are always polite and genuinely understand that things can be manic. To all of you customers out there, you are an absolute godsend and you make my work day so much easier! Thank you.

However, like every job, there are also the intolerable customers. I would use strong language but quite frankly there are no expletives strong enough to describe how truly irritating and rude some customers can be. Now, i can understand if i have done something wrong and i will apologise for that. But it was not on purpose. It was an accident but I'm gonna paste a smile on my face anyway, nod along and do what you're currently yelling at me because "the customer is always right". All in all, work sucks. And some days, my gosh, some days are so horrific that the minute you walk out of that building and see the first person you know, you burst into tears and spend the next half an hour ranting about how awful it is and how you're going to quit. You're planning to find a new job anywhere else, even the local butcher seems like a step up to your current job. I've had days like these. Honestly, they are the worst but they can be really useful! Especially when you don't know what you want to do as a career.

Whenever I have a day like this, i go home, open up my laptop, go on any job search website and type things I like in the search bar. So, sometimes I'll type music and see what comes up and have a look at the list of job openings. It makes me feel better because it's exciting to know what opportunities are out there! I always think "Well somebody has to get one of these, why can't it be me?", it's true! Why can't it be me? Even something as small as deciding on a new hobby can be the first step in a new career path.

For my first step, I opened my laptop and searched blog writing, creative writing, all kinds of writing jobs. And I applied to a couple, there was no feeling quite like it when i hit the submit button. Even if i don't get them, at least I know that I'm taking a step forward. If there's something you want, go for it. Don't hold back! You never know what could happen. One little decision could change your life.

If you want to make a change, take the first step. What's yours gonna be?

Finally On My Way,
  See you soon,
RME♡
